Club manager - recent events affecting all

Dear members, friends and supporters,
As we take careful steps to come out of the Covid 19 lockdown we see what happened to George Lloyd recently in Minneapolis, this also has an affect on all of us. Writing on behalf of CC Hackney, representing in defence of basic human rights; asking for everyone to be active and on guard against racism and violence.

Look after each other, stay safe.

Essential community support - thank you letter

Sunday 31st May 2020
It was rewarding to receive a supporting letter from a parent of one of our young cyclists during our 'Essential' cycle maintenance session at Fawcett Estate Upper Clapton yesterday. Always nice to know when you're doing the right thing!

Open Letter - Cycling Club Hackney's 2020-21 registration & annual subscriptions

Dear cyclist,

Cycling Club Hackney (CCH) hope that you are keeping safe and well.

If you have recently registered your membership with CC Hackney thanks for this and welcome to CCH.

We’re writing to lapsed members about renewing membership for 2020/21. Also having checked our dual records with British Cycling (BC) we can see that we need to raise attention to a possible misunderstanding. It appears that some are going to BC’s website and selecting ‘Cycling Club Hackney’ as their allocated club and then signing up as a BC member and some along with a racing licence. However this step alone does not make an applicant a member of CCH. To do this both payments need to be done at the same place and time but a number of BC members are omitting to do the CCH membership part.

We have reduced CCH’s annual subscriptions by 50% for 2020/21 in recognition of the current movement conditions and the lockdown. If you’d like to remain a member of CCH or join up again (1st or 2nd claim) please follow the link here:

https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/club/profile/2718/cycling-club-hackney

If CCH does not hear from you or receives confirmation that you no longer wish to be a member of the club then we shall remove your details from our shared database with British Cycling and update BC - the national governing body.

Many thanks and best regards,

On behalf of the Management at Cycling Club Hackney.

CCH Virtual Time Trial Series

CC Hackney is following the lead of our friends at the Hainault RC with a Virtual Evening 10 mile (16klm) series starting next Tuesday 7th April.
In preparation for when we can finally get out and join proper evening 10s the club is proposing a Virtual Evening 10 mile (16klm) series starting 7th April and running each Tuesday until racing outside is safe and permitted*
The first thing to understand is that we are not racing each other, as we all don’t have the same equipment so (unless you have your own private velodrome) it’ll be Zwift, turbo trainers or rollers. The idea of this is that we race ourselves weekly, aiming for the PB, to help with a focus in the week with a sense of sociability going on during these testing times.
So how will this work?
You will need a turbo trainer or rollers or Zwift setup and you must be able to measure distance covered. What is important is to be able to re-create the same ride conditions week on week. SMARTER
When you have done your ride you need to email in with the time, I'll email back the results sheet, then the following week we will do exactly the same – using the same setup as before.
What we are looking for is improvements in time. This will then be put on a spreadsheet in order of improvement % in time.
All CCH members need to do to enter is to email keirapperleycch@gmail.com and copy in harry@cyclingclubhackney.co.uk before Tuesday 5th April and tell us what equipment you are using:
Turbo / rollers / zwift etc.
Your ride can be done any time on Tuesday then email with your time. Remember this is for fun and for you to measure your own improvement week on week.

Any questions just ask.

Enjoy!
