London Youth Games 2023

     Saturday 1st July and the QE Olympic park was host to the finals of the London youth games with events going on in the Olympic stadium(Hammers) Copperbox and the cycling at the Velopark circuit meaning it was busy day for those representing the London Borough of Hackney-  and more so for those looking after them. Once again CCH were tasked with getting together a team for the road racing and once again the riders chosen delivers the goods.

Arthur went next for hackney in the U16s TT despite being a first year U14 he posted a great time of 10.23.15.

Next to go for Hackney was first timer Frida in the ~U16 girls TT - she finished 9th on time of 11.12.12

Next up was Ishanna who came 14th  at time of 11.47.32.

Finally for the youth A girls we had Sophie  with time of 12.59.16.


Sophie was also competing for the first time. Following straight after we had the under 12s individual time trial - 2laps of the circuit this time.

First up for Hackney boys was Leo

Leo posted a time of 6.09.91 to finish 19th in his first youth games.


Next was Isaac another first timer - he finished 8th on 5.41.79.
 
Next up was Henry he came 14th overall on 5.57.98.

Finally for u12 boys was Sam who did the 2 laps in 6.11.09.

First up for the U12 girls was three time attendee Catrin - 


 

Catrin finished 4th on 6.04 19.

Finally we had newcomer Grace who finished 26th on 7.34.67.



In the afternoon we move on to the girls and boys u16 circuit races. First up were the girls racing for 12laps of the circuit and representing Hackney we had Frida and Ishanna.

- the girls did well staying in the frontbunch all the way in very windy conditions finishing 9th -Frida and 12th Ishanna.


Next up we had Arthur and Freddie in the boys u16 12 lap race. A big crash some some the riders leave mid race but both Hackney riders stayed in there to finish 11th and 13th.




Overall then Hackney finished 4th in the competition narrowly edged of third which went to Greenwich with Southwark taking silver and Lewisham Gold. The riders efforts meant that along with the competitors for hackney in all the other 25 sports the borough finished in second place in the Jubilee cup for this years London youth games - well done to them all and go Hackney.


Special mentions to to Dan who rode the TT for his borough of Waltham Forest and Carlos who rode the TT and circuit race for Newham. Full results here - results.
