Race numbers ready

The new CCH race numbers are ready ahead of the first of our four grass track racing league events starting this Sunday 2nd August on Hackney Downs. The series is sponsored by London Cycling Campaign.
If you are under 16 and wish to participate please email asking for a club membership/consent form: keir@cyclingclubhackney.co.uk
Consent forms will be available on the day for young people but they must be signed by a parent or guardian before joining any races.

Grass Track Cycle Racing Summer League 2009

On Sunday 2nd August 4-7pm CCH will launch a grass track cycle racing league sponsored by London Cycling Campaign. It is to run on four consecutive weeks up to 23rd August (same place, same time) on Hackney Downs.
Entry is free and there will be championship prizes and awards at the end of the series for riders that gather the most points in competition.
Male, female and disability competitors are welcome.
Age categories are: 8-11, 12-15 & 16+. Taster races for under 8s can happen but they need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Under 17s need a signed note/consent form from their parent/guardian.

Tommy Simpson remembered - Mont Ventoux May 2009



Last May I was on Mont Ventoux, I visited the Tommy Simpson memorial site 1.5 klm below the summit. It's the place where he died whilst trying to win the Tour de France in 1967.

This years Tour stage 20 finishes up there on Saturday 25th July before the final 'parade' stage into Paris on Sunday...come on Wiggy!

Bradley Wiggins 3rd After 15 Stages In Le Tour De France!!!!



As im sure many of you already know on today (Sundays) stage, the first in the alps, London boy Bradley Wiggins moved up to 3rd in the grandest of grand tours. Its all set for a showdown on Mt. Ventoux to see if Wiggo could even grab 2nd step on the podium!

CCH & Hackney borough win the cycling event in the London Youth Games 2009




On Saturday 4th July 29 London borough cycling teams entered the cycling event of the 2009 London Youth Games. After a long day 28 teams were left looking up at Hackney & CCH who finished as stylish champions by winning both age categories to become the outright winners.
Eight young riders from CCH made up the team to represent Hackney along with the team manager; Keir Apperley and coaches; Gary Lingard & Joseph Alberti.
Riders on the line were: Clem Berril, Alex Peters, Tao Geohegan Hart, Sean Glendenning, Kyroah Pang, Nahshan Blondell, Adebisi Alakan & Cory Hall. All of them put in heroic performances and have a story to tell. The London youth Games results pages can be found here
