Tao in Great Britain squad named for Paris-Roubaix Juniors
Tao Geoghan Hart has been selected for the second year running to represent Great Britain for the Paris-Roubaix Juniors race, part of the UCI Juniors’ Nations Cup. The gruelling race on the pave of northern France is only slightly shorter than the seniors race and includes all the cobbled sections. Tao unluckily had a crash close to the end last year when he was in the lead bunch, lets wish him well and hope he finishes this time - in his usual style - see above.

Bike fixing session - puncture focus
As it was so cold for last Saturday morning's CCH youth session we had a break from going out. Instead we set about a bike fixing session with a focus on learning how to do puncture repairs. Our older youth riders; Tyrrell Greaves and Aminur Islam did some set up work on the club time trial bikes they will be using in competition soon.

CCH visit Stablinski & Merckx velodromes
Keir Apperley & Judith Philip visited the Jean Stablinski & Eddy Merckx velodromes recently in Roubaix & Ghent. They were there to promote CC Hackney's track event happening at Herne Hill Velodrome on Saturday 1st June 2013. By joining in track training sessions in both centres with other local amateurs they found it easy to engage and talk to fellow track riders about the 01.06.13 race day in London.
Participating was not a problem, staff were welcoming and good quality bikes were available to hire (Look & Merckx). The cost at both venues was 10 euros per session plus 5 euros for the bike.
Readers can engage with this promotion via the facebook events page here

Road Racing season now in full swing.
Harry Frank Logan Ned Anna and Tyrell trying to stay warm at the Cyclopark, Gravesend. |
Bede 10th, Frank 9th and Logan 6th, rode in U14 Cat B race. At the same time Ned finished 15th in the Under 16 Cat A race. Tyrell started the race but a mechanical forced him out early and with a no laps-out policy being in force his race was over. However a valuable lesson was learned in race preparation - namely having your bike ready the day before.
There is racing this coming weekend at hoghill and we are aiming to head over with all saturday morning riders whether they intend to race or not so they can get a feel for it. Details will be coming out in this week's email but be aware it will mean an early start.
